Feline Immunodeficiency Virus-associated myopathy in cats: an autoimmune disorder?

Inflammatory myopathy (IM) associated with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) infection has been documented in experimentally infected adult cats. Similarly, IM has been observed also in humans infected by Human Immunodeificiency Virus (HIV(. The pathogenesis of this myopathy is still unclear. The aim of this study was to describe the features and clarify the pathomechanisms of the myopathy associated with natural FIV infection in cats.
